Evidence-Based Psychometrics
for the MASC
You wonder whether the Movie for the Assessment of Social Cognition (MASC) really measures social cognition?
A transparent, pre-registered synthesis
Dozens of studies have tested what the MASC actually measures, but they have never been read together. EBP-MASC brings them into one place, so you can see what the evidence supports - and where it is still thin. It is built to the highest standards for work of this kind: a protocol registered before we began, a systematic search, and every result checked by two researchers.
Learn about U-REACHWe look for every study
A systematic search of PubMed, Web of Science, PsycINFO and Embase, so the answer does not depend on which papers happen to be well known.
Two researchers read each one
Every result is taken from the paper twice, independently, and placed on a common scale so that studies can be compared side by side.
The studies are combined
Results are pooled into one estimate per question, together with how much the studies agree and how uncertain that estimate still is.
- Protocol registered before we began
- Open dataset, free to download
- Every pooled number traceable to its studies
